The mid seasons sale gave me a perfect reason to go shopping for my dowry gifts for Iman. I'm so glad that I have only three more items left to purchase. The remaining two are the traditional items like the sirih dara (please don’t ask me what this is or its purpose, I’m not very sure of the Malay customs and traditions) and the Manisan (chocolate, sweets, cake, fruits, etc..).

A modern take of the Sirih Junjung/Dara.

I should really start focusing my attention on the guest list; I did not think the wedding guest list would be so time-consuming! Thank god for my tante Su! She has a list of our relatives so I can use that as reference.

After Eid, I need to discuss with my graphic designer a.k.a cousin Eleanor over the invitation and thank you cards (thanks Ellie, you’re awesome!). Meet up with the tailor for my solemnization, reception, man’s side reception dress … whoa that was a mouthful!

I have five lima cing eu পাঁচ خمسة 五年vissi חמש fünf पांच cinque năm more months to go! Oh my god, where did the days go by?

Insya'Allah, all will go smooth sailing! Ameen!

I wanted to tell you about the weekend we've had. Surrounded by a medley of fabrics, I felt like I was in cloth haven. I can't say the same for Iman though, he was just anticipating to get out, the only thing he found interest in was ... me of course :p I managed to get hold of a few samples to bring home to my mother.

Iman picked a nice beaded chiffon for me, it was simple yet chic. Just how I had envisage my wedding gown to be

We later proceeded on to wedding rings, found a few nice settings, however it is  a wee too early to buy the wedding ring now. Perhaps in another three or six months time then only it would be appropriate to purchase the wedding ring :) I won't post photos of any ring settings in the mean time. Let that be a surprise towards our journey of step 5 of 5.

I spent my last few minutes of April accompanying Iman on the phone while he was at work for a scheduled UVT, the deployment aftermath. I will spare you all the details because I’m not going to bore you with my fiancé’s job. But I am so proud of him, in matter of minutes he told me “Good so far no issues.”Alhamdulilah, He doesn’t have to stay at the office in the witching hours, I thought. Phew!

Anyway, my 9 months to the Solemnization check list:

My aunt & I (my hair looks disgusting!)

Photos by Her & cousin Sara (last one)

I accompanied my mother yesterday night to a wedding. My cousin Sara's, cousin Laena's wedding (okay I think I just confused myself there!). I rarely find myself enjoying wedding receptions but this one was different. The bride and groom had provided disposable  cameras for each table to snap photographs of their wedding. Cool concept no?

I was thinking the same for mine, but instant cameras like Polaroid or Fujufilm instax mini, but these toy cameras are not cheap, I would buy one for myself but provide for perhaps 700 guest or even half of that number I reckon not. My financial adviser a.k.a fiance would skin me alive if I went to the utmost (mustering your utmost is good, but DEPENDING on the circumstances of course!).

Anyway, back to Kak Laena's wedding, it was a really nice and chic wedding, it was quite intimate. There was perhaps less than 400 guests. Dessert was the ultimate! Ice Cream cake! Now how often do you go to weddings that serve Ice cream cake for dessert?

I love Facebook! It eases the burden in terms of finding names of my friends for my wedding guest list :p

Ideal garden wedding decorations! However, if you're living in a country that gloats tropical weather all year around like Malaysia, please check the weather forecast, you don't want your guests to be changing 3 shades darker or soaking wet due to the uninvited rain.

Insya'Allah once we confirm venue, I'll write a 9 months before D'Day to do list.

My mother was on her computer googling for wedding venues while I sat at the table wallowing into what seemed like pre-wedding depression? The venue I originally wanted is booked until February 19th 2012, found some other location but packages were ridonculously priced. I am currently on the waiting list for the Sime Darby Convention Centre and Felda Villa. But Allah S.W.T is great, and my mother (of course!) as she found the location. It is in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur AND ... it is modern, YOUNG and chic! If all goes well, this Wednesday we will be meeting up with the person in charged, won't divulge much on the venue's detail just yet, so stay tune!

Insya'Allah all goes stellar! ameen!

This venue hunt ain't a joke, I have been calling up venues, I feel like my hair is falling off! I need to make sure the venue has easy access for my guests, we're allowed to bring in our own vendors and caterers ...

unless we decide to scratch out our own caterer, I can narrow down my search and can focus on hotels... ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I want a marriage not a wedding! :(

I loathe traditional weddings. I simply adore modern weddings that of course won't get me in truckloads of trouble with the religious department :)

the commencement of step 4 of 5.

I have to start surveying location, material search, wedding budget, caterers, vendors, designing the invitation cards, gift favors, theme color.. oh oh did I miss anything out?
